Leafing through the pages of the melodies of yesterday.

Day 4: Your favourite photograph of your best friend.

It would be nice to have a best friend. In my case, I’d like to have two best friends – one who’s a guy and one who’s a girl. But from past experiences of having a best friend, being a girl at that – I always find myself in tears, really. If you’re a frequent reader of both my blogs or if you just know me really well, I treasure my friendships a lot. (My mother thinks I treasure them too much though. She just thinks I’m being stupid putting so much effort into my friendships, when most of them aren’t that bothered to keep the friendship going.)

Arguments do happen, and the roots of these arguments are normally due to misunderstandings between the individuals concerned. When quarrels occur, I like to think that both parties are at fault, in the context that two people are involved in said fight. Generally, nobody likes to admit that they are wrong. Nobody likes to take the first step to apologise and say that they are mistaken. But, didn’t anybody consider that sometimes, saying sorry doesn’t necessarily mean you are in the wrong? To put an end to such unhappiness and awkwardness, one party may just apologise to maintain the friendship and go back to the happier times of before. So, let the aforementioned statement serve as a little food for thought for my readers here.

Anyway, I have learnt to slowly break away from the need having a best friend. Instead, something came to mind, “Isn’t there a saying that goes, ‘The more the merrier’?” Therefore, I now have best friends. Or rather, many great friends that undeniably made my life more colourful and meaningful. They also opened up my perspectives on many issues, and filled my days with laughter and smiles. Although we all have our differences, but we still get along very well and most importantly, I can be myself and I feel very comfortable around them.

Thank you for coming into my life.

Thank you for being my friend.

(I fear I’m going to miss some of my friends out, so I think I rather not post any photos here. If they’re reading this entry, they’ll know who they are. I am sure of that.)

Meanwhile, my best friends forever...

The possibilities are endless; the sky is the limit.

Day 3: Your idea of the perfect first date.

Is there really such thing as perfection?

In your eyes, what is perfection to you?

Well, knowing me – I’m a major perfectionist. Even if a little detail is slightly off or something doesn’t go according to my plans, I tend to get cranky and frustrated. Normally, things will turn out alright in the end. Hopefully, I’ll learn to adapt to changes more easily.

I digress.
A perfect first date would just have you and me, filled with both humourous and serious conversations. I would definitely like to get to know you better, so our first date will be spent mostly talking. If we’re comfortable with each other, we can be totally honest with our feelings and we’ll never run out of things to say. There isn’t any need to dine in a fancy restaurant or to spend a lot of money, simplicity is the key here. As long as the both of us are comfortable, that is enough for me - and for you hopefully.
I’m not really a romantic person, so I never really put much thought into this until it came up in the meme.

But really, what is the meaning of the phrase ‘first date’ in this context?

Does it refer to my first date with a person I have already established a romantic relationship with?

Or does it just simply mean a simple first date with somebody I barely know but has the potential of becoming my other half?

This is me and my usual tendency to think too much.

In the blink of the eye, and all seems unfamiliar.

©leilockheart.

I make it a personal rule to post at least one entry every month on this blog of mine since I started it. Sure, it is truly undeniable that I feel disappointed because I was certainly too tired to do much throughout the month of May due to my hectic treatment schedule.

I am really tempted to post this entry and change the date to any day in May, but I put some thought into it and I realised I would just be lying to myself. There isn't any point in that, so I will just let it be.

As usual, I have a million thoughts running through my head, and I'll love to put those thoughts in the form of words and share them with whoever that is interested. But before that, I'll attempt to complete the 30 day meme. Some of the topics are really things that have never come to mind before, but I'll do my best to answer as relevantly as possible.

I also feel like changing the layout of this blog again. It seems that other blogs I read have very nice and simple layouts, but the same sadly does not apply to my own. Am I allowed to secretly hope that even though this blog lacks in looks, but the entries are of a certain standard and have substance? I'm not very sure, really.

Oh well, I'll just have to wait and see.

*
I wonder if my friends still remember me.

Life is an irony by itself.

But I'm not complaining, at least not for the time being.

Day 2: A photo of something you ate today.

©chocoholicsxanonymous.

I was too lazy to take a picture. So I just went on Tumblr to find a fairly nice shot. It looks more appealing, and I don't think I have the skills for food photography unless the lighting is excellent.

During my stay at the hospital in KL, my doctor there sent the hospital's dietician to enlighten me about the dos and don'ts of eating during my course of treatment.

Shockingly, it feels like what I have been doing with my diet so far was just mistake after mistake after mistake!

As my cancer is a kind of blood cancer, I can pretty much eat any kind of food - except food that is uncooked, raw and of course, contaminated food or food that isn't properly handled while cooking. That means no salads, a variety of sushi, and..well, contaminated food.

I've always thought that sushi and salads are healthier alternatives compared to fried food, fast food, sweets, and chocolate. Apparently in my case, I can easily get an infection from raw or uncooked food and contaminated food because the total amount of bacteria on these food on said list of food.

If I ever get to make a trip to Sushi King, I can now feast on tempura and the legendary Golden Ball without feeling guilty at all! Unfortunately, I have to give up my all-time favourite sushi for now - Raw Salmon Sushi. (If you need images, please refer to either this link or get directed to Sushi King's menu here.)

Plus, I'm underweight and I currently look like an anorexic, as mentioned in my cancer blog. I'm actually asked to eat as much as I can to gain weight. That means tidbits, snacks, ice-cream - food that can actually fatten me up.

Till now, I still find myself not believing my apparent piece of good luck. I'm actually allowed to consume all sorts of junk food - even if it's done moderately, but still, I'm not 100% convinced.

Food-wise, my parents were strict about my brother and I eating junk food. I hardly ate snacks and tidbits unless there's a class party of some sort in school. I was raised by my parents, especially by my mum to eat healthily. My parents are very picky about food when it comes to factors like how salty certain dishes are and how oily some dishes are. I mentioned this before, but I only drink isotonic drinks and I shun fizzy drinks especially those with loads of colouring and contain high levels of sugar in them.

Up till today, my parents and a lot of people wonder how I'm the one who got struck with cancer - when all this while, I'm like the healthiest person they know.

I wonder the same thing as well at times. I guess it could be due to many other factors as well, or it could be just fate, destiny or karma coming to haunt me. Cheesy as they might sound to some of you that don't believe in things like these - I'm still considering them as possible factors of me getting cancer.

Cancer, cancer, cancer. Sometimes I think I use the word 'cancer' far too often. I feel like I'm starting to make it sound overrated.

But seriously, cancer is no laughing matter. So I really hope some people can take cancer seriously, and not think it's 'just another disease like diabetes or high blood pressure'. These health conditions may vary, but they are still capable of making humans suffer. Human beings like yourselves. Just a little food for thought for my readers here.

I guess I digress a lot from the original topic. Oh well.

Cheers!

Your concealed skeletons are tumbling out, crashing on the floor for all to see.

Day 1: A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.

I present to you a webcam photo of terrible quality. Terrible quality refers to the photo, and not to me of course. But if you somehow dislike me and since I am now too busy learning to love myself instead of trying to please you, then you can continue to be misunderstood and believe that I am of terrible quality.

I digress. Anyway, I'm not a very photogenic person. I've always believed that I look somehow more decent in person.

Honestly, today has been a very uninteresting day like nearly any other day since I'm pretty much stuck at home. It's just me with my very short attention span!

Multiple tabs on Mozilla Firefox is probably the most convenient yet also the most distracting invention ever, because I just cannot focus on anything. This minute I'm blogging, the next I'm on Twitter, another on Youtube.

Okay, it's not distracting. It's just me with my very short attention span!

I better stop before my blog post becomes too boring instead of something of more substance like this blog. I'm glad that the blogger is back to blogging, because I'll finally have another source of reading material with some intelligence and thought injected into it - which is becoming increasingly rare.

Cheers!

Cities can be rebuilt, personal possessions can be replaced..

..but stolen lives can never be returned.

Today's entry is to highlight the recent tragedy that occured in Japan. I would like to post excerpts from my friends' blog posts regarding their views about said incident.
I think this is just the beginning of major changes that are about to come. We will only know the meaning of happiness after we have defined sadness and destruction. I'm still counting my blessings till this day and the time when I'm at my happiest could be someone's darkest. When we're all snuggled up and warm in our beds at night, we should take a moment to realize what our future holds and how just 5 minutes destruction can change everything.

I hate it when people make fun of things that matter.

"But Aiysyah, it's in Japan/Philippines/Hawaii/Russia - not Malaysia. So why bother worrying?"

Because their pain is worth of my worries. Lives of strangers matter way more than your petty problems. They matter way more than my own petty problems.
©Siti Aiysyah.

I don't feel very chatty about natural disasters like this. It makes me feel like I'm all talk and no action.

With our own set of everyday problems, I would like the readers of this very humble blog of mine to watch Christine's tribute video. It really serves as a reminder to all of us how lucky we are. And honestly, I don't know how much longer we can stay this fortunate to natural disasters of such an extreme rate. The state of Earth is constantly changing, you know.

Let us keep Japan in our prayers.

And they keep on playing, over and over.

©ardenwray.

It's been long since I last blogged. I am highly aware of that. My sincerest apologies to those who have been worried about this unexplained hiatus from the online world.

I have been going through so much emotionally, it'll take ages to list every single one of those problems and talk about it in detail.

All you need to know for now is that I have been battling not only with cancer and the limitations it imposed on me, but also with myself.

I might blog about said problems. Maybe in this blog, maybe in my cancer blog.

But since I feel a lot better about myself and I don't want to spoil my own mood by talking about issues of the past, I rather talk about what I have been really up to recently.

I have been composing music. It's nice how I can create a variety of rhythms and beats and melodies and variations in my head on both existing songs or random creations of mine. Unfortunately, I don't really have the talent nor the patience to have them translated into piano notations.

I'm lucky enough to have the chords for a song figured out on the piano, but so far it is without lyrics. I'm not a very poetic person, so I'm stuck there for now. I'm thinking of recording it and putting it up on Facebook/Youtube. Maybe some of my friends who are more poetic than me can figure out some awesome lyrics to go with the song. What do you think?

As of now, I'm very inspired by acoustic versions of songs, and I have been watching covers on Youtube to try and maintain this bout of inspiration. And since I don't see many people doing covers of songs on the piano and singing at the same time, maybe this is my chance to make it big.

I could be the next musical star on Youtube!

Hahah, I kid. Trust me, if I can actually play the guitar properly, I would play the guitar and sing. Not the piano. And it's not like I have an awesome singing voice or anything. But I believe that everyone can sing, given that they are willing to practise their vocals, are able to learn to keep their pitch and rhythm right, and not get too full of themselves. And to the people who are lucky to have a background in music or are just plain talented, well, if you are willing, why not just go for it?

I need more practice and more developed vocals before I upload anything on Facebook or Youtube. So don't expect too much from me right now! I might not even do anything about it in the end due to either really bad vocals, lousy lyrics, typical chords, or just plain low self-esteem.

Cheers!

P.S.: Do check out threeminutenights on Youtube. And this cover is totally inspiring me to do my own cover of the same song. Enjoy!
