Life is an irony by itself.

But I'm not complaining, at least not for the time being.

Day 2: A photo of something you ate today.

I was too lazy to take a picture. So I just went on Tumblr to find a fairly nice shot. It looks more appealing, and I don't think I have the skills for food photography unless the lighting is excellent.

During my stay at the hospital in KL, my doctor there sent the hospital's dietician to enlighten me about the dos and don'ts of eating during my course of treatment.

Shockingly, it feels like what I have been doing with my diet so far was just mistake after mistake after mistake!

As my cancer is a kind of blood cancer, I can pretty much eat any kind of food - except food that is uncooked, raw and of course, contaminated food or food that isn't properly handled while cooking. That means no salads, a variety of sushi, and..well, contaminated food.

I've always thought that sushi and salads are healthier alternatives compared to fried food, fast food, sweets, and chocolate. Apparently in my case, I can easily get an infection from raw or uncooked food and contaminated food because the total amount of bacteria on these food on said list of food.

If I ever get to make a trip to Sushi King, I can now feast on tempura and the legendary Golden Ball without feeling guilty at all! Unfortunately, I have to give up my all-time favourite sushi for now - Raw Salmon Sushi. (If you need images, please refer to either this link or get directed to Sushi King's menu here.)

Plus, I'm underweight and I currently look like an anorexic, as mentioned in my cancer blog. I'm actually asked to eat as much as I can to gain weight. That means tidbits, snacks, ice-cream - food that can actually fatten me up.

Till now, I still find myself not believing my apparent piece of good luck. I'm actually allowed to consume all sorts of junk food - even if it's done moderately, but still, I'm not 100% convinced.

Food-wise, my parents were strict about my brother and I eating junk food. I hardly ate snacks and tidbits unless there's a class party of some sort in school. I was raised by my parents, especially by my mum to eat healthily. My parents are very picky about food when it comes to factors like how salty certain dishes are and how oily some dishes are. I mentioned this before, but I only drink isotonic drinks and I shun fizzy drinks especially those with loads of colouring and contain high levels of sugar in them.

Up till today, my parents and a lot of people wonder how I'm the one who got struck with cancer - when all this while, I'm like the healthiest person they know.

I wonder the same thing as well at times. I guess it could be due to many other factors as well, or it could be just fate, destiny or karma coming to haunt me. Cheesy as they might sound to some of you that don't believe in things like these - I'm still considering them as possible factors of me getting cancer.

Cancer, cancer, cancer. Sometimes I think I use the word 'cancer' far too often. I feel like I'm starting to make it sound overrated.

But seriously, cancer is no laughing matter. So I really hope some people can take cancer seriously, and not think it's 'just another disease like diabetes or high blood pressure'. These health conditions may vary, but they are still capable of making humans suffer. Human beings like yourselves. Just a little food for thought for my readers here.

I guess I digress a lot from the original topic. Oh well.

Cheers!
